About Us

Jimmy and I went to the same school and dated 28 years ago in 1986.  After going our separate ways, getting married and having children, we bumped into each other in 2003 when we were both divorced.  And basically that was that.  We got married and are blessed to have 5 beautiful children between us, four daughters and a son.

Megan, Loren and Emma are my 3 daughters and Bradley and Shannon on Jimmy's children.  When Jimmy was diagnosed in April 2014 Bradley was 19, Megan 21, Loren 18, Shannon 17 and Emma was 15 years old.

Megan is taking a break after completing her first 2 years of a Bachelor of Psychology and is working on the Norwegian Cruise Liner, Jade.  Brad is studying sports management.  Loren and Shannon are both in matric so final year of school for them and Emma is in grade 10.

Forward to 2022

Megan and her husband Cosmin work for Diamonds International, on the Disney cruise liners. They got married in November 2020 and live in Romania.  Loren did 3 years of au'pairing in America whilst studying teaching and cape back to SA and is now teaching.  Emma finished school and her studies and is due to leave next week to go work on the cruise lines in the Caribbean. Bradley completed his studies and moved to the UK and has been living and working there for 4 years.  Shannon finished school and also studied teaching and is a teacher at one of our local primary schools.

Added to this we have our beloved staffie, Keira.  Since we never had any children together, 5 is more than enough, we call her number 6.  Keira sadly passed away in December 2017.  We welcomed Riley to the family in April 2021.  She is a delightful Jack Russell who has filled the space of not having any children living at home anymore.

My parents, Neville and Kathy Slater, live in Bredasdorp which is down the road from Cape Agulhas, the southern most tip of Africa.  It's just over a 2 hour drive from us.

I have 2 brothers who are both married with children and they live in Fish Hoek which is a 10 minute drive from us. 

 

Ewen and Isabel

Jimmy's parents, Ewen and Isabel, live in a cottage on our property.  They immigrated to South Africa from Scotland when Jimmy was 3 years old. Isabel sadly passed away from a very short battle with Cancer in 2016.

Jimmy's brother Ewen and his daughter Krissie live in the UK in the Cotswolds in a beautiful little village called Bourton on the Water.
