Jimmy's 52nd day in hospital and he was discharged this morning. I cannot tell you how wonderful it feels to have him home. I wanted to park in the top driveway but he said coming up the stairs from the garage would be fine. He almost didn't make it! He sat outside on the veranda for about 15 minutes and enjoyed the view and took in nature and the smell of fresh air and could not stop smiling. From there he moved to his lazy boy in the lounge, which has been a stark reminder of his absence, and passed out. He has been sleeping for 2 hours now and looks so peaceful.

We have to go to the chemo clinic on Monday so they can do his bloods and it sounds like this will be a weekly thing until they are happy with the counts. It is also to keep an eye on whether or not he needs platelets or a blood transfusion. Sister Wendy in the chemo clinic said that the record for an isolation stay is 72 days and they started getting worried that Jimmy was going to be the new record holder. Jimmy also needs to see Prof within a week but we are waiting to hear from Sister Wendy as he is full for Monday and Wednesday and then he is away on a conference so she said she would come back to us as to whether Prof would cancel an appointment to see Jimmy before he leaves. We have come home with a huge bag of medication and hopefully these will tick all the boxes for a smooth recovery.
I don't think I will have enough news to blog each day as I have been, so I will see how things go and maybe do a weekly blog to keep you all up to date.
I could never have done this part of the journey without all your messages, emails, phone calls, visits, meals, invitations out (apologies if I turned you down)....the list is absolutely endless. Thank you so much.

Yippee!!! I've been watching your blog since you mentioned that Jimmy may be discharged and am so happy to hear that he finally has been. I can only imagine the delight at being in ones own surroundings after being in a hospital for as long as Jimmy was. Tell Jimmy to take it easy now and not try to do too much!! We are very happy for him. Tell Jimmy to take it day by day and not to rush things. We thank the LORD that HE has closed another episode towards recovery. The next episode is building strength. WOW Vivienne and Jimmy!!!!!! I am sooooo thrilled to read Jimmy is doing so well and at home now! His recovery will be faster at home! But Jimmy, no golfing yet! Follow what your body is telling you, even if you get impatient to get back to pre-MM life! And please be careful with GERMS! Don't let sickies come over, and make sure everyone washes their hands every sec! Shoeless house too! Or provide everyone with masks, gloves and booties! MM makes us OCD with cleanliness, but it sure pays off. Congrats on all your success Jimmy, and Viv, thank you so much for your wonderful blog and posts, keeping all of us informed about Jimmy's SCT journey!!! Oh wow, this is such awesome news - we are so happy for you both that Jimmy gets to do the rest of his recovering at home at last. It must have felt like an eternity to you both while being in isolation but now you can just look forward and slowly but very surely heal in every way (physically as well as mentally).... you have both been through so much and are so incredibly inspirational. Karen, it is actually quite strange how the mind works. The hospital trips became very hard for me in the last 2 weeks, it felt like the rest of my life was slipping away and like I had been doing it for much longer than 53 days. But now that Jimmy is home it is already a distant memory....a bit like giving birth I suppose haha
